Robert and Joanne (Ruffner) Groome will be celebrating their 65th anniversary this week. They have been residents of Ephrata for 54 years.
The couple were married June 9, 1951, in Shillington. The Rev. Victor Kroninger officiated.
Robert, retired, formerly worked as a milkman and vendor for Tom Sturgis Pretzels. Joanne, retired, formerly worked for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, and was an elementary secretary in Ephrata Area School District from 1970 to 1995.
Robert loves people, bingo and dominos. He also enjoys old cars, trains and World War II airplanes. Joanne enjoys time with family and playing games. They are members of Grace Evangelical Congregational Church in Akron.
They are the parents of Kathy, wife of Donald DeBord, Ephrata; Dale, husband of Vicki, Felton; and Randy, husband of Monica, Ephrata. They have five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The Groomes celebrated with a family get-together.
