Linda E. (Lyn) Frederick and John R. (Rob) Stutzman Jr. were married in San Antonio, Texas, at 3:30 in the afternoon on Saturday, June 4. Family friend James Vernon Hatch SMSgt, USAF (Ret.) served as officiant at the candlelight ceremony at their home northwest of the city.
Lyn is the daughter of Kenneth A. and Ruth R. (Ringens) Frederick, formerly of Second Avenue in Lititz Pa. The Frederick family’s deep roots in Lancaster County date back to Lyn’s great-great grandfather, Christian Kling, whose Civil War musket proudly hangs above the cedar mantle at the Stutzman home in San Antonio. Lyn is employed by UnitedHealth Group as a Contracts Administrator.
Rob is the son of John R. and Edna E. (Slagle) Stutzman, and the grandson of Erla Mae Engel Stutzman. John Sr. and Erla Mae originally hailed from Denver. Rob is a retired deputy from Lake County Sheriff’s Department in northern California.
Rob and Lyn met 45 years ago in Munich, Germany, where Lyn attended Munich American High School and Rob, who had graduated from that school three years prior, was serving as courier for the American Consulate, which took him to numerous exotic locales in Europe, Asia Minor and Northern Africa. Their sweet friendship blossomed into love two years ago, after reconnecting via social media.
A wedding trip to San Francisco and the southern Oregon coast is planned for later in June.
